The 1900 Kitchen

Life is starting to change.  Our houses have gotten bigger and the kitchen is now the focal point in the house.  As you look around, what changes do you see?  The lighting is now coal oil lamps, the iron stove has replaced the hearth.  A dry sink has been but in with a pitcher pump so you do not have to run to the well or creek as often.  The lady of the house is now "queen of the kitchen" and is starting to have some of the finer things.  Your lifestyle is changing from Farming and Livestocking to more specialized artisan type activities.  

Meet my friend Prisciller.  She is now going to school to learn her ABC's, learning how to read, and improve her math skills.  She still has morning chores before school, after school when she gets home.
